What is CBT therapy or Cognitive Behaviour Therapy?

The CBT model is based on the fundamental concept that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are interconnected and influence each other. I will help you to become aware of your unhelpful thoughts and behaviours and change these into adaptive responses. In turn this will alleviate your distress.

“The concept of total wellness recognizes that our every thought, word, and behaviour affects our greater health and well-being. And we, in turn, are affected not only emotionally but also physically and spiritually.”
– Greg Anderson

What do I do in therapy?

CBT focuses on the ‘here and now’ problems and difficulties that you are experiencing. You will be asked what current problem you want to focus on in session and what your goals for treatment are. The past is discussed in relation to how it is affecting you in the present. CBT is as much of a ‘doing’ therapy as it is a ‘talking therapy’. We will agree with what ‘action’ needs to be taken in between sessions for you to get the most out of therapy.

What problems can CBT help with?

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) provides independent, evidence-based guidance for the NHS on how to effectively treat ill-health. CBT is recommended by NICE as first line treatment for the following conditions:
